â€Es gibt nicht immer einen Fahrstuhl zum Glück, manchmal muss man die Treppe nehmen. Diesen Satz habe ich damals im Krankenhaus gelesen, während ich die Gänge etliche Male auf und ab gelaufen bin. Heute weiß ich, was er bedeutet.
Am 23. Juni 2006 kam Sarah Connors Tochter Summer mit einem Herzfehler zur Welt, eine Situation, die die junge Familie auf eine harte Probe stellte.
â€Natürlich würde jede Mutter ihr Leben geben, um ihr Kind vor jeglichem Leid zu bewahren. Die Diagnose, dass meine Tochter mit einem Herzfehler geboren werden würde, kam völlig überraschend und hat mir den Boden unter den Füssen weggezogen. Wir haben uns immer wieder gefragt, warum wir. Heute denke ich, sie hat uns ausgesucht, weil sie wusste, wir würden diese Reise mit ihr schaffen. Es war eine Zeit der emotionalen Achterbahnfahrten. Niemand konnte uns genau sagen wie alles ausgehen würde und ob sie die dringend notwendige Operation gesund überstehen würde.
Gemeinsam mit ihrem langjährigen Produzententeam Kay D. & Rob Tyger schrieb Sarah die Ballade Ill Kiss It Away, um so die dunkle Zeit zu verarbeiten.
â€Den Text von Ill Kiss It Away zu schreiben, war eine Art Therapie für mich. Ich habe mich lange dagegen gesträubt, es war eine richtige innere Sperre. Es fällt mir auch nicht leicht, den Song zu singen, aber ich merke, dass er mir hilft.
Heute ist Summer ein gesundes, starkes Mädchen. Sie ist die Energischere und Lautere von meinen beiden Kindern, eine kleine Kämpferin, die sich von ihrem großen Bruder die Butter nicht vom Brot nehmen lässt. Das hat sicher nicht zuletzt mit ihrem etwas eigensinnigen Start ins Leben zu tun.
Den ersten gesunden Herzschlag ihrer Tochter ließ sich Sarah auf den rechten Arm tätowieren: â€Ich habe in dieser Zeit die Demut vor den kleinen Dingen des Lebens wiedererlangt.
Die TV-Premiere von Ill Kiss It Away wird am 09. November in Kai Pflaumes Sendung Nur die Liebe zählt sein. Die Single erscheint am 07.11.08 und ist die zweite Auskopplung aus Sarahs aktuellem Top 3-Album Sexy As Hell.(mehr)(weniger)
